Turtle and horse riding in Chacocente
From the Sandy Beaches of the Pacific Ocean, to the land of the howler monkeys, discover with this package an authentic experience in the biggest dry tropical forest of Nicaragua.
Admire the arrival of sea turtle on the sunset or at night, and then ride with your horse through the forest to spend some time with the local community of La Chota and learn how they produce their natural honey.
D1: THE TURTLE ARRIVAL
You start your trip in El Astillero. There, your meet a local guide from the community who will lead you along the rocky and sandy Pacific´s beaches, with pelicans gulfs and vultures flying all over the ocean and egrets on the mangrove side… Admire sunset, then have a diner and night in the ranger´s station. Between july and january, wait for the nature show of the sea turltels nesting during the night.
D2: THE GREAT HORSE RIDDING
After breakfast, ride your horse, guided through the dry tropical forest, looking at its inhabitants. Feel the sensations of liberty during this long haul horseriding (3h) in the nature. Once you arrive at the Chota community, you are welcomed with a tipical rural lunch. Then relax and discover the hamlet and its people. On the evening, you´ll explore with your local guide the “Tres Sombreros hills” to admire the sunset over the reserve and the Pacific Ocean. D3: FROM THE BEES TO THE HONEY
After you ´ve been woken up by the surprising song of the howler monkeys you´ll take your traditional breakfast. Visit with the honey keepers, their gardens, apiary and honey processing machine, learn a lot about bees, and taste the wild flavour of this forest honey. Say good by to your hosts and hit the road back to Astillero.
